Heartbreaker Blog Hop

I do love a Heartbreaker Hero. Not the arrogant, player type but the 'I'll push you away 'cause I think you're too good for me' type. We get to see their vulnerability beyond the bravado and fall in love with them as easily as the heroine does. Of course the pride and honour thing only works until the leading man realises what a dick he's being and we finally get our happy ending!

And it goes without saying he has to be drop dead gorgeous...

Take Smith Masterson, for example. My Texas Ranger from Into the Wild.

He's so concerned with protecting Laurie from hurt further down the line, he's slow to react when she's offering herself on a plate. The poor girl is forced to take matters into her own hands...

Excerpt

“We’re not going to my house.”

“We’re not?”

“Nope.” Laurie tugged his hand impatiently and giggled. “You’re

going to jail. Do not pass go; do not collect $200.”

“Jail, huh?” Smith smiled and waited patiently whilst she

unlocked the door.

“I thought you might like to see it.”

“Sure. Thanks.” He looked flummoxed, but it was all part of

her great seduction plan.

They stepped inside the stone enclave, and she flicked on the

solitary light bulb hanging from the ceiling. There really wasn’t much

to see – the cell, the sheriff’s desk and a few sepia wanted posters.

“The cell’s open if you want to get the feel for the life of a

wanted man.”

He did her bidding, filling the tiny space with his

overwhelming presence, leaving little room for a cellmate. The bars

no barrier to this woman on a mission however, she nipped in behind

him.

Boldly advancing on her captive, she pushed him against the

metal holding.

“In here? Really?” He looked faintly amused whilst she busied

herself kissing the exposed skin at his throat.

Holding his hands behind his back and fastening her mouth to

his, his attention was side-tracked. It enabled her to keep him captured

in one hand, whipping out the item concealed in her pocket with the

other.

Clamping a fluffy pink handcuff to each wrist, she anchored

him securely around the bars of the cell.

“What the hell?” He yanked at the cuffs in a vain attempt to

break free.

“Tonight, I’m making sure you finish the job. No more lame

excuses or unwarranted gentlemanly behavior.” Each word was

punctuated with an extra slice of manly chest as she unbuttoned his

shirt. “This is all about sex, pure and simple.”

With the last button open, she ripped the shirt wide exposing

his tanned torso in totality. Those lovely brown eyes had turned a

menacing black, but he didn’t speak. She was glad; she was past the

point of no return and selfishly intent on filling the void he had

created. Trailing the tip of her tongue along the perfect line of

symmetry between his pecs, she dipped dangerously low.

Kneeling before him, she heard him suck in a breath through

clenched teeth. That dang belt buckle mocked her, but this time it was

no match for her lust. She slid the leather belt off with deliberate

slowness, wanting to drive him mad with helplessness. Making eyecontact

from her provocative position, she peeled away the barrier of

clothing shielding him from skin on skin contact.

I think that Christian Grey from "50 Shades of Grey" is a good example of a heartbreaker. He used and abused Ana at first, but then came to his senses by book two.

  15. We all want to love a Heartbreaker. Maybe its because of his chiseled good looks, his bad boy attitude, or the mysterious nature of him. Some Heartbreakers are just that, they know what they got and how to use it to get what they want. Then there are those Heartbreakers that don’t even realize that they are doing it. The best part about a Heartbreaker is that there is always a woman that turns their world upside down until they realize it is love. I have read many Romance Novels over the years and have run into many memorable Heartbreakers and my favorites are usually the ones that don’t even know they are Heartbreakers! Some of my personal favorite Heartbreakers are :

Kade Jamenson (Werewolf) from An Alpha’s Path. Kade is a sexy werewolf that will make you burn but a mishap with a potential mate makes him not think he will find love.

Ian MacPhie (Vampire) from All I Want For Christmas is a Vampire. Ian is a heartbreaking Highland Vampire that was frozen in his immortality when he was only 15. With the help of his friend he is given a drug that helps him age to 28 so he could look like a man instead of a child after hundreds of years. He has no idea that he looks of a warrior and the lover.

Lothaire Daciano (Vampire) from Lothaire. Lothaire is definitely a heartbreaker and his cocky attitude proves it! Thinks he’s a gift to women! Its just the sucker punch from a woman he doesn’t realize is his equal that brings him down a notch.

Marius Parker from His Contrary Bride. Marius is every part the gentlemen but doesn’t realize he could also easily be the rogue!

Benjamin Gateway from To Win His Wayward Wife. Benjamin doesn’t realize that he is a heartbreaker because the one woman he loved, he lost….or did he?

Fury North (Human with Canine DNA) from Fury and Valiant North (Human with Feline DNA) from Valiant. Fury and Valiant are strong New Species and gorgeous to boot, but because they are damaged they doesn’t think they can hold onto to the women they love.

Sigimor Cameron from Highland Conqueror. Sigimor is every bit the Highland Laird and warrior but can he hold onto to the beautiful English lady?

Joshua Striker (Werewolf) from Alexandra’s Legacy. Joshua is a scared and battle hard enforcer for his pack and he thinks that he doesn’t have what it takes to make the women melt.

  18. My favorite Heartbreaker is the one that your heart can’t live without. One of my best is Lucas from D B Reynolds book “LUCAS” (Vampire in America series). Strong mind, well put together and tender when he wants to be. And loves horses.

  23. I don't know that I've met a heart breaker, but I've read about quite a few. My current favorites are both Lauren Dane characters. One is Shane from Fated and the other Todd from Laid Bare. I think the redeeming thing about them is that when they realize how wrong they are they are quite good at communicating their understanding and groveling.
